Job description

We are currently working with a leading Energy business that is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team. Within this role you will be responsible for overseeing all Group financial accounting operations, supporting the budgeting and forecasting process and supporting the preparation of monthly CFO board pack reports.

As this is an integral part of the Finance team, it is crucial that the successful candidate is confident in leading a team in preparing accurate and timely monthly and half-year reporting.

The company is rapidly growing and as part of their expansion they require a skilled team to continue their growth. Having recently implemented a new ERP system, this role will require you to lead on developing and embedding best practice with the system. Alongside you will be required to identify and implement any process improvements, efficiency initiative and financial controls.

Role Responsibilities
  • Working with divisional Finance Directors and their teams to prepare accurate and timely monthly and half-yearly reporting.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the monthly CFO board pack reports and external reporting requirements.
  • Aid the team with the short-term cashflow forecasting and cash management as well as the general budget and reforecasting processes.
  • Ensuring preparation of the Group consolidation under IFRS across a number of entities is completed.
  • Ensuring that all accounting operations (accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury) are supported quickly and professionally.
  • Leading the intercompany elimination and reporting process for internal companies.
  • Being one of the main points of contact with external auditors and ensuring an efficient audit process.
  • Ensuring all statutory accounting, VAT, corporation tax and company secretarial requirements are met, working with the Finance Director and external advisors.
  • Being the go to for the Group on technical accounting queries.
  • Various ad-hoc projects that arise as required.

In order to be considered for this role you must be qualified - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent, with significant post qualification experience. A proven track record will help you stand out from the crowd and the ability to work in a dynamic manner within a fast-paced environment will help you succeed in this role. Previous experience implementing or using Oracle NetSuite is ideal, although not essential.
