Job description

Summary of Role:

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented financial accountant to join our team on a permanent full-time basis, reporting to the Financial Controller. This role plays an integral part in supporting the smooth running of our finance operations. The role will support senior finance personnel (FD, FC, FM and FBP) with ad hoc projects and be a key support and provide cover for other team members (purchase and sales ledger) where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cashflow Management: Daily cash reconciliation, updating cashflow reports, updating and submission of weekly forecast to group, liaising with SL & PL to ensure accurate forecasting.
  2. Month-end Procedures: Preparation & posting of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and project transfers.
  3. Balance sheet reconciliations: on a monthly basis, cut-off testing on a quarterly basis.
  4. Corporate Governance: Production of monthly cost reports for key corporate accounts and analysis spend against budget/forecast, meeting with stakeholders to discuss variances.
  5. Utilisation report: Production of weekly utilisation report and working with finance business partner to monitor trends within each business unit to aid greater forecasting accuracy.
  6. Fixed Asset: maintenance of fixed asset register, addition and disposals, production of a capex report for bi-weekly capex committee and attend meetings.
  7. Audit: Assistance with year-end and half-year audits, dealing with any queries raised and updating statutory accounts ready for review by Financial controller and Finance Director.
  8. Sales & Purchase Ledger Support: assisting both Sales and Purchase ledger where necessary.
  9. Assist with other ad hoc tasks and support the team during busy periods.

Ideally what we are looking for:

  1. Experience of accounting in a projects or professional service environment, involving time and expenses.
  2. Ideally part qualified accountant and working towards completing qualification.
  3. Experience in using Excel to an excellent level and accounting software.
  4. Good organisational skills.
  5. Excellent reconciliation experience and self-checking of outputs.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
  7. Strong attention to detail.
