Summary

The Study and site operations (SSO) Finance Specialist is accountable for budget planning, analytics and payment execution in the UK in close collaboration with SSO Study Start-Up Managers, SSO Clinical Project Managers and SSO Contracting Specialists in compliance with Novartis processes, GCP/ICH and regulatory requirements.
You will also be liaising with external stakeholders and vendors in country.

This will be a 9 month temporary assignment base hybrid in our London office.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

1. Supports country study start up (SSU) strategy in close collaboration with SSO Study Start-Up Team Lead and SSO Study Start-Up Managers to ensure SSU timelines and deliverables are met according to country commitments
2. Responsible for accounting and execution of investigator payments for assigned projects in country
3. Project controlling & budget management supports financial planning, forecasting and management, analyses and reports project costs and their drivers
4. Set up & validation of investigator contracts in the accounting system for clinical studies
5. Executes and monitors internal controls
6. Translation of Global Grant Plans, and confirmation and submission of local budget
7. Executes payments, communicates with sites when it comes to payment issues
8. Ensures adherence to financial standards, prevailing legislation, Health Authority and SOP requirements
9. Implements innovative and efficient processes which are in line with Novartis Strategy

Qualifications:

1. Commercial or financial training (e.g., vocational qualification) or a degree in scientific, finance or economics discipline with experience in clinical operations and/or project management
2. Strong financial and business economics background
3. Strong process and system understanding Independent, dynamic, structured and committed way of Working
4. Communicates effectively in a local/global matrixed Environment

Nice to have:

1. Experience in clinical operations or equivalent
2. Understanding of clinical drug development with particular emphasis on trial set-up, and contracting
