We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Consultant to support a large pension scheme within a professional services firm. This role offers a chance to work in a dynamic and complex pension scheme environment, focusing on streamlining and delivering finance operations. It is a 2-3 year fixed-term contract, for approximately 40-50 hours a month, with remote work available and one day a month in the London office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial administration of a pension scheme, collaborating with the executive team and scheme administrators.
- Coordinate the preparation of the annual scheme budget.
- Deliver quarterly cost updates to the Trustee and regular forecasts for the Sponsoring Employer.
- Manage the invoice process and ensure timely approvals and payments.
- Act as the principal contact for Scheme VAT and Tax issues, working with tax advisers to meet deadlines.
- Manage class actions in collaboration with third-party advisers.
- Support supplier management and contribute to the risk management framework.
- Drive value-for-money initiatives and manage workload efficiently.
- Potential to expand responsibilities to other pension schemes as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and efficient approach to financial tasks.
- Excellent Excel skills and financial reporting capabilities.
- Strong numerical skills and experience with auditors.
- Ideally degree-educated and a qualified chartered accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA).
- Ability to build and manage client relationships, anticipating and meeting their needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Collaborative team player with a curious attitude towards new ideas and technology.
Beneficial Experience:
- Knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes and related financial operations.
- Corporate accounting experience, including IAS19 reporting and SOX compliance.
