Job description

Finance Officer

Hours of work: 22.5 - 37 hours per week (part-time or full-time). We are flexible in our approach to the working hours for this post and are happy to accept applications from individuals wishing to work anywhere between 22.5 and 37 hours per week.

Salary: £25,736 to £27,873 pay review pending (full-time equivalent)

Location: Rotherham

Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) is the lead body for supporting, developing, and promoting the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in the Rotherham Borough. Our role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.

As Finance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient management of the organisation's finances and accounting system. You will provide financial support and contract administration to the wider VAR team, as well as support VAR's payroll services.

The successful candidate must be able to:

  1. Work alone or as part of a small team.
  2. Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  3. Communicate financial information to non-financial colleagues clearly and concisely.
  4. Have a good understanding of financial systems and procedures.
  5. Manage multiple demands and have a keen eye for detail.
  6. Experience in contract management, budget monitoring, and payroll would be advantageous but not essential.
