Job SummaryPermanent | Full-time (30 hours per week considered)We're looking for a Finance Officer to join the Research & Innovation Care Group. You will provide support to the team, ensuring the smooth processing of financial transactions and maintaining efficient administrative processes. You will help investigate budget variances, raise invoices, track expenditure, and support the daily financial needs of our research activities.
About Us: We support around 300 research studies annually, including a range of clinical trials, innovation, and technology projects. We are home to an NIHR-funded Commercial Research Delivery Centre and NIHR Health-tech Research Centre, and much of our interventional research is supported by our Clinical Research Facility Team alongside our Research Governance Team.
About You- Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent experience
- Experience working in a finance role or department
- Experience using financial software, ledger systems, and with invoicing

Main duties of the jobReporting into the Assistant Research Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
- Track and investigate budget variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare journals and maintain spreadsheets and databases.
- Process cheque requests and ensure timely payments.
- Raise and check invoices.
- Book travel arrangements and raise Purchase Order Numbers for research-related expenses.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date finance ledger records, providing reports as needed.
- Help prepare financial statements and reports.
