Job description

Amazon is a pioneering, dynamic, and energetic company that thrives on unique and peculiar ways. We take pride in our single-minded obsession over customer satisfaction and our ability to maintain a curious and vibrant culture no matter how large the company grows. We endeavor to build our legacy as Earth's most customer-centric company and to continue to cultivate and nourish our innovative environment through our mission to hire the best. If you are a financial accounting professional who consistently exceeds expectations, who dares to make bold decisions, and whose ears perk up at the prospect of a challenge, then Amazon is a place where your career can flourish.

When working at Amazon, your ability to make a difference and take ownership of your career begins on day one. You can expect a collaborative, team-driven environment that encourages employees to learn, be curious, and have a bias for action. Part of this propensity for continuous learning shows itself in Amazon's strong encouragement of movement and growth within the Accounting department and within the company as a whole. We aim to hire and develop those who will raise the bar over the course of their career at Amazon (and not just in their first position).

Amazon has an immediate opening for a Senior Program Manager to join our Accounting Technology Group.

This position supports and directly influences the launches of Amazon Accounting's initiatives to support Amazon entities worldwide. Successful candidates will have operated successfully in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope business requirements, and prioritize. Successful candidates will have deep experience in the following three disciplines - Accounting, Program Management, and Finance Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive program objectives - provide program management and define project plans, manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support.
  2. Define requirements and work with partner teams to design, implement and launch scalable solutions.
  3. Design processes and procedures that scale with the business' growth in volume, complexity, and global geographic dispersion.
  4. Communicate new/updated programs and processes to leaders, employees, and cross-functional organizations.
  5. Collaborate and build relationships with system and business owners globally to ensure process excellence and the highest degree of controllership.
  6. Negotiate efficient and reliable processes and policies across partner teams to systematically eliminate dependencies and defects.
  7. Work cross-organizationally and functionally to identify key opportunities in process, technical, and human interfaces and develop and implement plans to capitalize on those opportunities and measure and monitor success and impacts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
  • Significant program or project management experience
  • Experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience managing accounting/finance process improvement and/or technology projects with aggressive schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree, or Master's degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • PMP
  • Experience supporting accounting/finance customers to set and effectively manage expectations, project deliverables, and drive resolution when conflicts or issues arise.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional initiatives through influence versus direct management.
