This is an entirely office based role located in the City Centre of Manchester. Finance Manager - permanent position, you will be expected to work full-time hours of 37.5 per week.

Main duties of the job

The Finance Manager will manage the finance team ensuring the delivery of effective financial controls to achieve a high standard and meets the requirements of NUPAS.

To support and deputise Head of Finance and/or cross cover duties within finance team when required.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic CCAB/ACCA qualified accountant or finalist, who has extensive experience in effective financial controls and payroll function, possess strong management and communication skills, as well as excellent analytical, technical and IT skills. You will have the ability to operate at a strategic level, work under pressure and manage multiple and conflicting deadlines.

Finance & Payroll Responsibility

  1. To manage the finance team ensuring AR and AP functions deliver effective financial controls to achieve a high standard and meets the requirements of NUPAS.
  2. To have the ownership of ledger system ensuring appropriate chart of accounts and high standard of data accuracy and quality.
  3. Responsible for comprehensive payroll function ensuring accurate payroll processing in timely manner, compliance with tax and employment laws, managing employee records and providing payroll support to employees.
  4. Responsible for all the control accounts and reconciliations.
  5. To support the completion and submission of NHS England Finance Performance Reports.
  6. To prepare statutory annual financial statements by adhering to appropriate Accounting Standards (IFRS).
  7. To support financial audits ensuring auditors are provided with the necessary information to undertake a thorough and effective audit.
  8. Responsible for tracking, managing, and accounting for company assets, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and facilitating compliance with regulatory standards.
  9. Maintaining professional knowledge to ensure any financial advice is given with the latest information from professional bodies.
  10. To support development and implementation of comprehensive finance policies and procedures.
  11. Champion value for money and support in continuous improvement of efficiency across the organisation.
  12. To deputise Head of Finance and/or cross cover duties within finance team when required.

General Responsibility

  1. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the post and/or that are deemed to be within your capabilities.
  2. To work in harmony with all other team members including team members in different regional groups and to communicate in an open and courteous manner with colleagues, clients, visitors, referring agencies and contractors.
  3. Support a woman's right to request an abortion within UK legal framework.
  4. To maintain and improve standards of work through the undertaking of training, attending courses and keeping up to date with technical information.

Person Specification

Experience

  • 3 years or more senior level experience in financial accounting.
  • 3 years or more payroll experience for 150+ employees workforce.
  • Experience in healthcare finance.
  • Experience in audit.

Qualifications

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant or finalist.
  • Continuing Professional Development.
  • Strong relevant academic background.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in financial system and confident ledger owner.
  • Strong excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS.
  • Expertise in Sage 200 ledger system and/or Sage 50 payroll system.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£50,000 a year, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Total 37.5 hours.
