Job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our clients Finance department. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong managerial skills to become an integral member of the team.

The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in managing financial controls, overseeing month-end and year-end accounts, and ensuring the smooth running of our finance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the Finance team.
2. Identify, implement, and monitor additional controls to support effective financial control across the department.
3. Continuously review and optimize finance team processes to ensure maximum efficiency.
4. Oversee the production of month-end and year-end accounts, including related analysis and supporting calculations.
5. Ensure the integrity of accounting controls, such as Balance Sheet and Bank Reconciliations, are maintained and signed off.
6. Collaborate with the Financial Controller to liaise with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and accurate annual audit cycle.
7. Support the Finance team in executing their daily duties, including financial operations, management accounting, and reporting tasks.
8. Stay up to date with accounting standards and relevant regulatory changes.
9. Utilise financial systems, such as Sage 200, to ensure optimal functionality.
10. Maintain an in-depth understanding of FCA requirements, including Client Money Calculations, CMAR reporting, MIFIDPRU reporting, and ICARA processes.
11. Oversee reporting to external parties like FCA and HMRC and manage Treasury Management reporting.
12. Proactively identify and report risks related to financial operations that could impact client or company reputation.
13. Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, the Branch Manual, Code of Conduct policies, and the T&C Framework.

Essential:

1. Educated to A-level standard, including GCSEs in Maths and English.
2. Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
3. Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a finance department.
4. Prior experience in financial accounting within a professional services organisation.

Knowledge & Skills:

1. Strong competency in Microsoft Office applications (intermediate level or above).
2. Proven ability to train, motivate, and evaluate colleagues effectively.
3. Good knowledge of HMRC and FCA regulations.
4. Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively and lead by example.
5. High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining ethical standards.
6. Ability to foster a positive team culture.

This is a hybrid role, with 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.
