Job description

Finance Manager
Location: South West of Birmingham
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:30pm, Friday early finish
Benefits: Free parking, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, Company Pension

We are proud to be exclusively partnering with a well-established, medium-sized enterprise based in South Birmingham, trading successfully for over 15 years. Due to continued growth and an ambitious business strategy, we are looking to appoint a hands-on and commercially astute Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function.

This is a standalone role that requires someone who is not only comfortable working at a strategic level, but equally happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the day-to-day financial operations—including bookkeeping and transactional finance.

You’ll need to be confident in making financial decisions independently, highly communicative at all levels of the business, and capable of providing clear and accurate financial insights to the board. We are seeking a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take full ownership of all finance operations including bookkeeping, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  2. Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, and clearly communicate key financial insights to the board.
  3. Manage cash flow and working capital, and play a lead role in strategic financial planning.
  4. Serve as the main point of contact for external accountants, auditors, banks, and other stakeholders, ensuring full compliance with tax, VAT, and regulatory obligations.
  5. Support payroll processes and oversee staff expense management.
  6. Continuously improve financial systems, reporting tools, and operational processes.
  7. Make confident, informed financial decisions in a fast-paced, commercially driven business.
  8. Provide financial leadership across the business and communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  1. Proven experience in a similar finance management role, ideally within an SME environment.
  2. Either CIMA qualified or QBE (Qualified by Experience) with a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end finance functions.
  3. Strong technical accounting skills and hands-on experience with bookkeeping.
  4. Proven accounting experience from an Industry background.
  5. Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential.
  6. Confident in presenting to the board and advising senior management on key financial matters.
  7. Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of the business.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a proactive, hands-on Finance Manager who’s looking for a role where they can truly make an impact—both in the day-to-day running of finance and in shaping the wider business strategy.

If you’re ready to step into a standalone role where your voice matters and your expertise will drive meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you. [emailprotected]
