Based in Cheltenham, our client is looking to recruit a Finance Manager who will report to the Director of Finance. This role drives the heart of the Finance Team to deliver excellent financial and budget management and reporting across the organisation.

Salary

Paying up to £55,000.

Job Description

The Finance Manager will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with the Director of Finance to develop and deliver an annual finance work plan which aligns to reporting and business requirements.
• Supporting the Director of Finance by developing relevant policies and procedures within the finance function and developing tools, guidance, and training for budget managers.
• Working closely with the Director of Finance to identify and implement system and process improvements to ensure finance operations are efficient, resilient, and robust.
• Leading the implementation of a month-end closedown timetable (to deadlines) within the finance team, including undertaking Balance Sheet and other reconciliations.
• Identifying weaknesses and improving controls within the finance team to maintain the accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Maintaining the asset register for new assets, disposals, depreciation, impairments, etc.
• Working closely with the Director of Finance in the preparation of annual budget plans and future business planning, including liaison with budget holders and reviewing business analytics.
• Developing a robust budget monitoring timetable and core processes with the Director of Finance to ensure regular review of performance with budget holders.
• Holding regular meetings with budget holders for larger or more complex departments, acting as a business partner to support sound financial management practice.
• Preparing monthly management information, budget and cash flow forecasts, and other reports and KPIs as appropriate, to support decision-makers at operational and strategic levels.
• Working with the Director of Finance to develop and deliver the annual year-end accounts closedown timetable.
• Preparing the annual statutory consolidated accounts and schedules alongside the Director of Finance.
• Leading the liaison with external auditors to ensure the year-end audit is delivered to deadlines, including resolving queries promptly, and coordinating the finance team to provide audit samples as per the agreed timeframes.
• Overseeing quarterly VAT returns to meet HMRC deadlines.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Finance Manager role will have a proven track record as either a Finance Manager or a Management Accountant and will be a qualified accountant.
