Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager to lead the team at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Birmingham.

The Role:

As Finance Manager, you will manage the hotel's day-to-day accounting function, assisting the Cluster Director of Finance in providing financial leadership to the business and clear structure and direction to the Finance team. Primary responsibilities include preparation and analysis of financial reports and reconciliations, internal and external reporting, budgeting/forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital, and cash control.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

1. Providing ongoing analytical support, monitoring the operating department's actual and projected sales and profit and coaching the management team to ensure financial goals are met and opportunities are identified and addressed.
2. Maintaining a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability, and manage business risks.
3. Producing accurate forecasts that enable operations to react to changes in the business.
4. Reconciling balance sheets and ensuring account balances are current and supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs.
5. Facilitating P&L critique meetings to review results with the management team.
6. Managing internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
7. Effectively managing the day-to-day operation of Accounting to execute finance and accounting responsibilities for the property.
8. Providing analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
9. Verifying that the P&L is accurate and statements are delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
10. Assisting the Cluster DOF in developing the annual business plan, budgets, forecasts, financial reports, tax compliance, and profit and loss statements.
11. Assisting other departments, wherever necessary, and maintaining good working relationships within the whole hotel.
12. Recruiting, training, and developing finance team members and supporting the development of our next finance manager.
13. Complying with hotel security, fire regulations, and all health and safety legislation.

Our Ideal Candidate:

You will have an accounting qualification and a proven track record in a similar role within a hotel environment along with experience in coaching and developing team members, driving sales, and delivering financial results. Operational experience would be an advantage but not essential.
