Job description

Axon Moore are working with an owner managed, sub £10m turnover business in the Sheffield region to appoint a Finance Director.

The business is within the service sector and the Finance Director will work closely with the owner and board to position the business for growth. This growth may include further acquisitions, as well as organic growth targeting new markets.

The Finance Director will at the moment be the sole accountant within the business, so they must be willing to work in a 'hands-on' environment. They may be able to pull in support from other areas of the business, and over time they will be able to build a small finance team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Working with the owner to plan, execute and manage a range of business growth initiatives and managing a range of external stakeholder relationships.
  2. Assessing existing banking facilities and suggesting alternative means of funding growth.
  3. Preparing all statutory filings at year end.
  4. Managing VAT and Corporate Tax administration.
  5. Establishing some foundation management reports to enable better financial planning.
  6. Managing the ledgers and maintaining a tight position on working capital and cash.

The ideal candidate will be:

  1. A qualified finance professional with experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Director (or equivalent).
