The Role
As a Finance Director, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working in conjunction with the MD for Major Nuclear Capital Projects, a new and developing business area for us; providing leadership, direction and oversight of financial activity for the civil program team.

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for a team of 15, working within a business unit that needs an operational focus with a turnover of circa £500m and being responsible for the preparation of business unit financial reports, project performance reports and forecasts for future business growth:

• Maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders.
• Key business interface with operational and functional directors and any other board members.
• Oversee financial audits, working closely with external auditors to ensure compliance.
• Financial guidance for the strategy and development of delivery programmes.
• Drive the business to exceed profit and cash targets.
• Interface with Sector finance team.
• Drive consistency across the business unit and contracts therein.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office / onsite and 2 days working from home.

Essential Experience of the Finance Director:

• Experience in financial management at FD level from a civil engineering / main contractor capacity.
• Successful delivery of working capital and cash flow improvements.
• Demonstrable experience as a financial leader with the drive, ambition and gravitas to lead a high-performing team.
• Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
• Proven capability and significant experience of leading change, implementing systems and processes.
• Experience in multisite project environment.

Qualifications for the Finance Director:

• You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
