Finance Director - £80,000 to £100,000 per year - Leatherhead, Surrey - Office based

FryerMiles are delighted to be working exclusively with an established Construction company to assist in their recruitment of a Finance Director to join their team based in the UK head office in Leatherhead, Surrey.

The Finance Director will be a key strategic partner to the senior management team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving the company's financial planning and analysis. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, hands-on finance leadership, and sector-specific knowledge to help guide the business through its next phase of growth.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee all financial accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to UK reporting standards.
  2. Preparation of consolidated financial statements, statutory accounts, and audit processes.
  3. Manage the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  4. Monitor project costing, profitability, and work-in-progress reporting.
  5. Drive cost control initiatives across departments and support procurement strategy.
  6. Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations, tax requirements, and construction industry-specific legislation.
  7. Manage and develop a small finance team, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications required:
  1. ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  2. 5-8 years post-qualified experience
  3. Proven experience in technical accounting and financial leadership roles within an SME environment
  4. SME construction experience
  5. Knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) and VAT rules relevant to construction.
