Job Purpose

Flogas Britain has completed some key strategic acquisitions over the last 18 months, which has diversified the group and created an exciting pathway for growth opportunities moving forward. With this growth comes an added layer of complexity and increased workload, and whilst we have continued to support internal progression within the finance team, we feel it is appropriate to bolster our resources with an individual who is willing to come on this exciting journey with us through the Energy Transition, helping to lay the best foundations on which to achieve this next phase of growth from.

Reporting to the Finance Director, the individual in this role will provide additional bandwidth to the existing finance management team, supporting with a variety of workstreams and leading on projects across the group from a finance perspective. This will be with the overarching aim of helping the group to navigate through a period of growth in its existing core business, and from the new capabilities that the acquisitions provide. The role will require the individual to consistently strive for improvements across all areas of financial management, driving profitability and return on capital employed forward.

To be successful in this role, the individual must work closely with the other finance department leaders and their teams, in order to understand the risks, challenges and opportunities across the department and the wider business, pro-actively supporting in driving those improvements. We are looking for a hands on individual that has a track record of operating with a continuous improvement mindset, delivering positive change to people and processes.

Accountabilities

• Leading on key finance improvement projects and initiatives which seek to review existing processes and implement changes to boost efficiency and increase automation, embracing AI
• Supporting the Head of Group Finance with management accounts and group reporting requirements to deliver the most efficient and well controlled month end and year end timetables, providing insight and challenge on outputs
• Supporting the team to deliver more efficient annual budget, quarterly forecast and audit processes
• Supporting with the onboarding and integration of new acquisitions, as well as the monitoring of their performance against original Investment Proposal thereafter
• Partnering with the new acquisitions to challenge performance and improve reporting
• Leading on and supporting any new strategic projects relevant for the any parts of the group, including further acqusitions
• Supporting the Finance Director with moderation of capital spend proposals from across the group to ensure submissions to MD, FD and where necessary to DCC plc are consistent, fair and credible
• Networking with other DCC group companies in the UK to share best practise and leverage knowledge to impart within the Flogas Group to increase alignment across the DCC group
• Providing ‘fresh eyes’ and leveraging existing experience to date to identify bottlenecks in processes and work collaboratively with the team to increase efficiency and improve automation
• Supporting the senior finance leadership team to further enhance colleague engagement
• To undertake any other analysis/projects as required by the Finance Director or other Senior Leaders.

The nature of this role is that it is broad and naturally spans a wide range of areas of the finance function. As such, flexibility and willingness to dive in and support the team are essential. The individual in this role should provide natural succession to the Head of Finance roles in the team.

Job Holder Requirements

• Qualified accountant with at least 7 years PQE and relevant experience
• Strong personal presence with interpersonal and communication skills to be able to engage at all levels, with the stature to quickly inspire the confidence and command respect of the leadership team and to work collaboratively and cohesively with the senior management team and divisional executives
• Ability to develop mutually beneficial relationships with prospects, internal and external stakeholders
• Strong Commercial awareness and business acumen with an ability to maintain professional scepticism
• Ability to work autonomously, manage to tight timescales and prioritise effectively
• Passion, energy and commitment with high personal integrity and a practical, pragmatic and hardworking presence with the flexibility and mobility required for the role.
