Job Description:

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to support the Home Solutions (ASHP and Boilers) part of British Gas. You will focus on driving value through the operational teams and operating cost base.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Home Solutions Finance Partnering Team and get full P&L exposure to the Home Solutions business, as well as exposure to senior stakeholders across British Gas. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Home Solutions business and to get a deep understanding of performance drivers
  • Understand business strategy and its translation into financial impacts, and support its effective communication across Finance
  • Develop understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and inter-company agreements and transactions
  • Support opex understanding to link spend to outcomes and ensure business case thinking is robust
  • Support the wider finance team and business by providing robust insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
  • Regularly review and report performance against Group Annual Plan & latest forecast, working with the business to analyse financial and operational (value driver) variances and recommend corrective action
  • Maintaining a live risks and opportunities view of the business, helping the business to mitigate the risks and deliver the opportunities
  • Carry out non-standard / bespoke analysis to support business decision making

Here's what we’re looking for:

  • Recognised accountancy qualification or passed finalist
  • Experience of providing commercial analysis and evaluation in a financial planning and analysis or business partnering role
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to summarise complex data and matters and communicate effectively
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships
  • Motivated by continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs
  • Ability to identify a problem and think through an approach to develop a solution
  • An interest in automation and use of new tools to analyse data and streamline processes
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment and working to tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify, assess and analyse organisation wide operational risks and controls

Why should you apply?
