Department: Finance

Description

The Finance Business Partner plays a crucial role in supporting financial performance, partnering with operational teams to drive efficiency and profitability. The role involves forecasting, financial analysis, and integrating finance into operational activities to ensure accurate reporting and informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Forecasting & Reporting:
  • Compile and reconcile forecasts, covering revenue and costs.
  • Consolidate and review data for Profit Centre Manager (PCM) forecast packs.
  • Collaborate with PCMs to resolve forecast variances and ensure accuracy.
Month-End Support:
  • Act as the local point of contact for Glasgow’s finance team during month-end.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of month-end schedules (e.g., stock levels, machine hours, rebate schedules).
  • Reconcile revenue, disposals, and other key managed data.
Operational Finance Integration:
  • Work closely with operational managers to enhance cost control and drive efficiency.
  • Assist with finance-related operational activities, ensuring seamless integration.
Debtors & Creditors Management:
  • Engage with PCMs to manage slow and doubtful debts.
  • Liaise with Glasgow on sales and purchase invoice issues.
Financial and Business Analysis:
  • Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner with budgeting, trend analysis, and variance reporting.
  • Support capital asset and project financial management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in data capture, processing, and reporting.
Commercial Awareness:
  • Promote financial and commercial awareness across operational teams.
  • Provide non-financial analysis to support productivity, capacity, and efficiency improvements.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications:
  • Essential: AAT qualified or QBE (Qualified by Experience).
  • Desirable: Fully qualified accountant.
Technical Skills:
  • Essential:
    • Month-end accounting experience.
    • Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge of Navision/Microsoft Dynamics.
    • Experience with Jet Reporting and process costing.
Behavioural Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and senior managers.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Confidence to take ownership of tasks and deliver results.
