Finance Assistant

Department: Accounts Receivable
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid, 3 days in the office, 2 days from home)
Salary: £24,000 - £26,000

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract - 6 Months - Permanent opportunity will be under review

Role Overview:

The Finance Assistant will support a range of finance functions, including posting bank transactions, allocating customer payments, raising credits, reconciling accounts, and assisting with credit control queries. The role requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and experience working in a fast-paced finance environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Process financial transactions, including posting bank transactions and journal entries.
  2. Allocate customer payments and manage purchase orders.
  3. Assist with reconciliations for web sales, prepayments, accruals, and bank accounts.
  4. Resolve customer queries, including credit control and outstanding debts.
  5. Support finance team with administrative and project-based tasks.
What You Need to Succeed:

Experience:

  1. 2+ years in finance or accounting.
  2. Experience with bank transactions, reconciliations, and credit control.
  3. Comfortable handling customer queries and financial data.

Skills & Knowledge:

  1. Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
  2. Understanding of financial processes, including VAT rules.
  3. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
