Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary (FTE): £26,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About The Role
The Finance Assistant will report to the Finance Director and will be AAT part or fully qualified or qualified by relevant experience, with a charity or housing association background. The role will involve working within all divisions of the Charity. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, good communication abilities, and a proactive attitude towards assisting with diverse finance tasks.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Process and post invoices, receipts, and payments accurately.
- Post bank transactions, reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
- Perform Supplier statement reconciliations.
- Support with the reconciliation of key control accounts and inter-company accounts.
- Help manage and track restricted funds, unrestricted funds and donations.
- Record housing benefit, rent and service charge receipts.
- Provide support with data analysis for the Housing division.
- Assist with general finance administration and support the Finance Managers with their finance needs.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes including participating in the preparation of the monthly management accounts.
- Assist with finance reports, budgets and forecasts.
- Help with statutory audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
- Assist HR team and outsourced payroll provider with preparation of monthly payroll.
- Other tasks and duties as required.
About You
- Previous experience of working in a busy finance or financial admin role.
- A strong understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping.
- Charity or Housing sector experience is desirable.
- Confident with numbers, with an understanding of the importance of accurate data.
- Good communication skills, demonstrating professionalism in your interactions, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work accurately, with an attention to detail, and prioritise workload effectively.
- Experience with Xero software would be an advantage.
- Proficient in Google, Excel and other commonly used Microsoft Office applications. Comfortable building and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills.
- Ability to write clear, professional emails and other key communications to internal and external audiences.
- Recognised accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent is desirable.
