We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team in Leeds on a hybrid basis.

Role Overview

As a Finance Assistant, you’ll be responsible for assisting with the processing and administration of financial transactions within the Flow & Water Quality Monitoring and Land & Utility Surveying business unit. You will help with employee expenses, sales invoices, payroll data and routine financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with processing deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Expenses & Payments: Post and process employee expenses and overnight subsistence payments using CMAP and Sage systems
  • Inter-Group Transactions: Process inter-group recharges and cash pooling charges
  • Sales Invoices: Assist in the review and posting of sales invoices
  • Payroll Support: Export and review timesheet data as part of the monthly payroll process and ensure variable pay elements are sent to Payroll in line with deadlines
  • Routine Financial Transactions: Assist with the posting of cash book entries and other transactions on sales and purchase ledgers
  • Financial Analysis: Analyse financial transactions to support the review and reporting of monthly financials

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a finance function
  • Strong understanding of Excel and experience analysing and sorting data
  • Experience with Sage accounting system
  • Good financial acumen and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow financial processes using accounting and operational systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage a varied workload
  • AAT qualified or working towards an accountancy qualification (desirable but not essential)

  • Full-time (40 hours) position with flexible working options
  • Location: Leeds, hybrid working
