Role

Kirkcaldy YMCA delivers community projects and programmes to support children, young people, adults, and families throughout the Kirkcaldy area.

We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual who will carry out the role of Finance Assistant in a manner that reflects the vision and values of Kirkcaldy YMCA.

As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of Kirkcaldy YMCA. You will be responsible for recording financial transactions (including invoicing, purchase & sales receipts and payments), posting financial data to QuickBooks accounting software, reconciling accounts to ensure their accuracy, and collating and processing monthly payroll data in a timely manner.

The successful candidate would ideally have relevant Bookkeeping / Accounting experience (with Excel Spreadsheets and Accounting Software) and AAT Level 2 Certificate (SCQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification.

The role is critical in supporting the Management Team and the Organisation in delivering its charitable purpose whilst observing and upholding charity accounting compliance procedures.

Closing date for applications is Monday 21st April 2025 with a view to interviews being held W/C Monday 5th May 2025.

Special Conditions
  • The post is funded until 13th September 2025 – continuation is dependent on funding and maternity leave.
  • The post may involve evening working – to be negotiated depending on client needs.

Purpose of Job

FetLor Youth Club is a busy and thriving youth centre in the north of Edinburgh. The Club welcomes over 300 young people every week to enjoy a range of clubs and activities. Club events are facilitated by a team of youth workers. This new post will add to the team that is currently in place.

We have a strong ethos of providing emotional support to all the young people who choose to spend their time with us. Every aspect of club life is underpinned by the value we place upon emotional support offered through a listening, non-judgemental and caring practice.

Main Duties
  • Supporting and listening to all young people who attend our club.
  • Ensuring young people remain at the heart of all our club activities.
  • Supervising young people attending the club and supporting them in undertaking a variety of club-based activities including, but not restricted to:
    • Cooking
    • Physical play such as dodgeball, unihoc and football
    • Supporting older members undertake youth achievement awards.
  • Attending residential activities, such as sleepovers, Hopscotch and Outward-Bound programmes. This commitment is generally no more than 10 nights per year.
  • Maintain and contribute to social media networks relating to our club.
  • Be competent in the use of MS Word and Excel.
  • Completing evaluations of youth work sessions using our in-house system.
  • Being prepared to attend safeguarding and first aid training and put this learning to use when required.
  • Be flexible and able to support our six-week summer programme of daytime activities throughout July and early August each year. Please note, annual leave will not normally be authorised during this period.
  • Any other reasonable duties that are appropriate or as directed by the Youth Work Manager, Chief Executive or the Board.

Communications Officer

You will maintain our digital presence, shape our brand identity, and ensure our messaging is accessible, engaging, and impactful.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) as our Policy and Public Affairs Officer, playing a key role in shaping and delivering our policy and campaigning work.

SYP has a proud history of championing youth-led campaigns that drive meaningful policy change. From securing Votes at 16 and Equal Marriage to advocating for the incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into domestic law, we have consistently worked to improve the lives of young people across Scotland.

As we develop our new manifesto, this role will be instrumental in ensuring that young people’s voices are heard by decision-makers at all levels. The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will support young people to influence policy, engage with politicians, and drive forward the changes they want to see in society.
