Oxford Royale’s Film Academy programme is designed for students aged 13-18 who are passionate about exploring the world of filmmaking. We are looking for a teacher with a strong background in film production, directing, and screenwriting to inspire students through practical and theory-based lessons. The ideal candidate will guide students in developing their skills across various aspects of filmmaking, including scriptwriting, cinematography, and post-production, while providing them with hands-on experience in creating their own short films.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and deliver lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, adapting content as needed to suit the students’ interests and abilities.
2. Lead engaging and interactive lessons on scriptwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, directing, and editing.
3. Provide students with hands-on experience, guiding them through the process of producing, shooting, and editing their own films.
4. Offer individualized feedback on projects to help students improve their filmmaking techniques.
5. Supervise group projects, ensuring students collaborate effectively and contribute to each aspect of the filmmaking process.
6. Handle administrative tasks, including taking attendance and attending staff meetings.
7. Encourage students to analyze and critique films, developing their critical thinking and understanding of film theory.

Person Specification

1. Strong knowledge and practical experience in film production, including directing, scriptwriting, and editing.
2. Passion for inspiring young filmmakers and fostering creativity in a collaborative environment.
3. Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and engaging way, adjusting teaching methods to different learning styles.
4. Experience working with teenagers in an educational setting is preferred.
5. Strong organizational skills and fluency in English.

Position Details

1. Programmes are two weeks in length, with options for 2, 4, or 6-week contracts available between July and mid-August 2025.
2. Teaching takes place Monday to Friday, with lessons scheduled from 09:00 to 16:00, though shorter hours may be available in some locations.
3. Compulsory online and in-person training will be required before the programme begins.
4. While teaching materials are provided, teachers are expected to adapt lesson plans to student interests and contribute their own expertise to the course.

Essential Qualifications

1. Undergraduate degree (or higher) in film studies, media production, or a related field.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

1. Experience in teaching filmmaking or working in the film industry.
2. Knowledge of up-to-date industry techniques and tools for filming and post-production.
3. PGCE or Master’s degree in film studies, media, or related field.
