Job Description

  • Dutch manufacturer of high-quality automated analytical analysers
  • £30,000 - £32,000 + £4000 overtime + company car and benefits package
  • Remote-based position - candidates ideally based in Belfast or the surrounding area

Delve is representing a Dutch manufacturer of high-quality automated analytical analysers used globally in laboratories for environmental, food, agricultural and chemical testing. Established in the 1960s, the company has grown into an international powerhouse with subsidiaries and representatives in over 60 countries. They now employ around 200 people, most of whom are based at their HQ in the Netherlands where their research & development, manufacturing, and international sales and after-sales support teams are based.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a technician to the existing global service team of around 50 dedicated technicians. This opportunity would be perfect for someone who has experience as a chemical laboratory assistant or chemical technician and is looking for a career outside of the lab.

Role and responsibilities

  • The installation and commissioning of analyser instruments at customer laboratories across Germany and the Nordic region
  • Training of customers in analyser operation & maintenance
  • Carrying out routine preventative maintenance visits
  • Responding to emergency service call-outs and repairs
  • Fault diagnosis and resolution using both mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
  • Providing full written reports on activities

Travel

This person will be travelling around 80% of the time, both nationally and internationally – we are looking for someone who has the freedom to travel and enjoys being customer-facing.

Person | Cultural fit

  • You will have completed vocational training in a chemistry-related discipline
  • You will have an interest and hands-on experience with electronic or mechanical systems either in a lab-based setting or as a service technician
  • Ideally, you have two years of experience as a chemical laboratory assistant or chemical technician
  • Systematic and logical working methods as well as technical skills are your thing
  • If you are communicative, self-confident in customer contact, proactive in your job, self-responsible and hands-on oriented, you are exactly right in our team

What can you expect from the company?

  • An interesting and varied job in an industry with an exciting future
  • Flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes
  • A dynamic team with a great sense of humour
  • Plenty of space for personal initiative and participation
  • Technology never stands still in this industry, which is why the company offers you regular further education and training opportunities
  • Modern work equipment (laptop, iPhone and iPad) and a company car (also for private use) are provided
  • They attach great importance to a strong team spirit and therefore regularly organize employee events, such as barbecues and Christmas parties

Training

The successful candidate will spend around 4 weeks at the company's HQ in the Netherlands. During their time there this person will be trained on the company instruments and their applications as well as spending time in production, learning to build/assemble/troubleshoot these instruments. After this period, this person would shadow an experienced engineer to gain valuable practical experience at customers' sites.
