Job description

Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: Swindon
Hours: Mon - Fri, 8am - 4:30pm + Overtime, call and weekend when needed.
Hourly Rate: £17.50ph - £18.50ph, DOE

Wright Staff recruitment are currently representing a Worldwide known brand in Plant Engineering and Manufacturing. As part of their growth strategy, they are looking for skilled engineers to join the business, representing the leading brand. We are looking for independent and confident individuals with a strong background in plant, electrics, hydraulics, and mechanics.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  1. Service, repair, and maintain Brand machinery and other plant equipment to the manufacturers' specifications, ensuring machine reliability and safety.
  2. Report machine defects and upsell the services of our Brand wherever possible, with financial benefits for the candidate for all opportunities created.
  3. Diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic, powertrain, and various other faults prior to initiating and completing a repair.
  4. Operate our 'Service Master' diagnostic software via a laptop computer (training will be given).
  5. Complete a detailed report of work completed along with supporting photographs and all allocated times via our in-house Service Manager personal tablet system.
  6. Complete risk assessments in line with company health and safety policy and ensure safe working practices are in place at all times.
  7. Accurately order parts with the parts department.
  8. Work closely with the service department and management team.
  9. Perform any other duties deemed necessary to fulfil the role.

The ideal candidate will have:
  1. Relevant experience and qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ Level 3 qualifications or equivalent to or greater than. Level 2 NVQ potentially accepted but will need excessive experience/knowledge.
  2. Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  3. Good IT Skills.
  4. Knowledge and experience of a variety of machinery ideally in the construction or agricultural industry.
  5. Ability to interact with customers and develop/build relationships that ultimately deliver a positively satisfying experience.
  6. Ability to deliver appropriate communication both internally and externally to allow planning and continued work to be effectively completed.
  7. Ability to set timescales to own tasks to enable completion of duties while ensuring safety.
  8. Present a professional image at all times.
  9. Must carry a full driving licence and have the ability to operate machinery on site for testing purposes (training can be given to the right candidate).

For the Field Service Engineer/s required, we need experience and knowledge of fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs. This role is more skilled and very different from a servicing and maintenance engineer.
