Job description

Astute’s Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a leading renewable energy company, a market leader in solar operations, to recruit a Field Service Engineer covering the Cambridgeshire area with occasional travel for business needs. The role involves onsite service and maintenance of large-scale solar assets.

This strategically important Field Service Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £40k plus a vehicle.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Reporting to the Service Team Leader, you will:

  1. Visual inspection activities, cleaning and report to management team.
  2. Routine maintenance activities on modules, inverters, cables and connectors, DC and AC distribution boxes.
  3. Routine maintenance activities on module mounting systems, fence and gates, inverter and transformer stations.
  4. Routine maintenance activities on monitoring and communication equipment.
  5. Routine maintenance activities on security system devices.
  6. Fault finding on electrical components by means of visual inspections or professional site measurement activities.
Professional Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. NVQ Level 3 Electrical Certification or equivalent.
  2. At least five years’ experience in industrial electrical installation and maintenance.
  3. Previous Solar PV maintenance experience is preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of DC electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and occupational health & safety regulations.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office.
  6. Full, clean UK driving licence.
Personal Skills:

The Field Service Engineer role would suit someone who is:

  1. Willing and flexible to travel to sites as and when required.
  2. Strong in problem-solving and able to work under pressure.
