CNC Machinist Field Engineer - Manchester and Surrounding Area
Salary: Basic is GBP33,000 + company van + Bonus (circa GBP3300) + pension + lunch allowance + breakfast allowance if early start + loads of training.
Note: The van is fully expensed and tools are supplied.
This job involves going out to companies in the Manchester area undergoing health and safety and general maintenance checks on CNC machines.
It is similar to a Service Engineer's job but not quite as involved.
Like a Service Engineer, the job will involve stopping out occasionally, not all the time—maybe around 5 or 6 times per month. Obviously, this is fully expensed and you get paid extra when you do stop over.
People doing this job are often given the opportunity to become a fully skilled Service Engineer position within the company, which is why this vacancy exists—the current person is being promoted.
You will need a full driving license and must be currently living in the area (sponsorship is not available).
You don’t need to have Service Engineering experience, but you must have experience working on CNC machines. Someone who has been a CNC machinist who wants to go out visiting companies would be perfect for this job.
This is a great company to work for; it’s a cracking position and there are loads of opportunities to develop if that is what you are looking for.
The job is a permanent position from Day 1. The company is very secure and well established.
The company sells high-spec CNC Machines; the job involves going out to their clients and doing checks on the machines.
The job is Monday to Friday only. Very occasionally, they are asked to work weekends, but it is definitely not obligatory.
Normal hours are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, but this is only a guide. You work on one job a day, and if you finish the job early, then you can usually finish early for the day. It's swings and roundabouts; some jobs take longer than others.
What is involved?
You will obviously need training on their machines; you will shadow someone to begin with, and they will show you the ropes.
The company really looks after their staff and they like people to stay with them; there is loads of training available and the job is very interesting—much better than going to the same job day in and day out.
The company has an excellent reputation supplying multi-access CNC machines to precision engineering companies within the Aerospace, Defence, Power generation, Motorsport, Oil and gas, Medical, Automotive, and many other Precision engineering manufacturers.
