Junior & Senior Field Application Engineer - Server & Storage Solutions

Field applications engineers are technical support engineers for sales, marketing, design and development activities in technology-oriented companies. A FAE job provides the opportunity to travel, work with other engineers on leading edge designs & technology and seal up design and product contracts. In this capacity, field applications engineers are critical as they suggest new technology and provide different design approaches which make for top selling products.

Job Location: St Albans

Job Responsibilities:

1. Initiate, facilitate and drive various business problem-solving and process re-engineering projects in collaboration with clients.
2. Form new or innovative designs in particular application fields, make prototypes and demonstrate applications to existing and potential users.
3. Generate and manage leads on technical requirements from various sources and deal with potential customers.
4. Support customized product/equipment design & developments for customers, providing technical assistance and conducting requirements analysis.

Desired Skills & Experience:

1. Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary server systems.
2. A broad knowledge of Windows Server and Linux based operating systems.
3. A working knowledge of Virtualisation & SAN technologies.
4. Experience working with TCP/IP networking, switches, NICs and routers.
5. A clean, detailed and clear documentation practitioner.
6. Well versed with theoretical IT principles and their applications in real life.
7. Comfortable in dealing with complex, abstract or vague problems.
8. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
9. Proficient in latest MS-Office tools, web-usage and web-based tools.
10. Ability and affinity to respond quickly.
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

A successful candidate will also have one or more of the below qualities:

1. Prior experience working with Supermicro based server solutions.
2. Design & development experience/skills in circuit design, PCB design, firmware & software development.
3. Knowledge & experience of server manufacturing.
4. Exposure to HPC & Clustering configuration/tools.

Qualifications:

1. Preferred Graduate/Post-Graduate in any engineering or science discipline (e.g. BE/BSc/MCA, etc.) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
2. Additional technical and professional credentials relating to aforementioned skills would be an added advantage, such as MCP, A+, Linux+, VCP etc.

Salary:
Junior - £20-25K
Senior - £30-40K
