Founded in 1795, Norwood is the oldest Jewish charity in the UK, and has been privileged to receive Royal Patronage since 1815. We support and empower neurodiverse children and their families and people with neurodevelopmental disabilities to live their best lives.
Norwood works with local authorities, to deliver wide-ranging services including residential and supported living accommodation and short-breaks facilities, as well as a range of support groups aimed at the whole family, not just the individual.
The service is a large, detached, purpose-built property. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor and five bedrooms on the first floor. There is a modern kitchen, dining area, comfortable lounge, sensory room, and a leafy garden. The location is close to the town centre which has shops and local amenities with easy access to public transport. There is parking at the front of the house.
We support eight women whose ages range from early thirties to late seventies. They have moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disabilities, epilepsy, and mobility needs. They have a mix of verbal and non-verbal communications, including Makaton, eye gaze technology, and iPads.
The residents enjoy each other’s company in their relaxed atmosphere. Their interests include music, dancing, theatre, bowling, and swimming.
