Female Personal Care Assistant for a young girl P/T@ £13.74/hr in Blyth - Blyth - NE24

A family in the Blyth area is looking for an experienced female personal care assistant to provide care to a 4 ½ year old young girl at home and in the local community. The young girl has complex health care needs as a result of a brain injury caused by cardiac arrest.
She is diagnosed with hypertonia with bilateral spasticity and is fed via PEG/Gastronomy.

The ideal applicant will:

1. Be a friendly, female care assistant
2. Have a kind, caring and compassionate nature
3. Be experienced supporting children with complex health needs
4. Be bright, bubbly and energetic
5. Be able to build a strong working relationship with both the child and her family.

Tasks will include:

1. Medication administration including nebulizer
2. Preparing and feeding via gastronomy/PEG - training will be provided
3. Personal care – nappy changing, bathing
4. Social activities – reading stories, visiting sensory rooms/venues, accessing the outdoors using her bug (pediatric buggy), singing and most of all having fun whilst engaging with her.

Hours Breakdown:

1. 4 hours per week to be used evening OR weekend
2. Additional 4 hours per week during all school holidays

Flexibility is required from the successful applicant as the hours are not on a set day or time but based on family commitments.

A full enhanced disclosure and barring certificate for Children’s work force is required prior to commencement of employment. The full cost will be met by the employer.

Where applicable, all training will be delivered via the local authority Learning Together platform. This will include medication administration, moving and handling, and children’s safeguarding as a minimum. Training is conducted via online applications, demonstrations on the job, and face-to-face training as required.
