Family Solicitor

Location: Gillingham

Salary: £DOE

Full Time

Purpose

To undertake fee-earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the Firm. To ensure the successful development of the Firm in line with the business plan.

Job Description

The role includes but is not limited to the following:

  1. Family Law, including separation, divorce and finances upon divorce
  2. Children Matters
  3. Domestic abuse and domestic violence injunctions, divorce and children law
  4. TOLATA claims
  5. Drafting legal documentation to include Cohabitation Agreements and Prenuptial Agreements
  6. Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through collection of monies on account and billing procedures
  7. Providing assistance to other fee earners within the office/Firm as required particularly during periods of sick leave or holiday absence
  8. Minimising risk in dealing with all work and ensuring that all files are managed in accordance with the Firm's risk and file management procedures
  9. Carrying out all work in accordance with procedures and systems documented in the Office Manual, and the Firm's training seminars
  10. Supervision of fee-earning work undertaken by colleagues

The Candidate

To be successful in your application, you will possess the following attributes:
  1. Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent
  2. Expertise in all aspects of family law
  3. 2 years PQE upwards (this level is a guide only)
  4. Ability to manage own case load with or without support staff
  5. Utilise the firm's practice and case management system
  6. Ability to assist with the marketing of the department
  7. Billing clients in accordance with notified charging rates based on time spent on the client file and achieving financial targets for income
  8. Strong IT skills
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  10. Dependable and flexible to business needs, with occasional overtime required, including working weekends
