Job Description:
The Faculty Physician provides comprehensive and continuous primary care to a panel
of patients and engages in the care of hospitalized patients. The Faculty Physician supervises the patient care
of nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Additionally, she/he supervises, teaches and
evaluates resident physicians and medical students in training at the health
center. She/he also develops and implements curricula; conducts daily case reviews
and conferences; participates in department-wide activities; and engages in
scholarly activities. The Faculty Physician also participates in the development and implementation of a
community health plan and, as directed, may serve as a representative of the
health center to community groups and task forces. Faculty Physicians are viewed as leaders in
the organization and are expected to be involved in matters such as
productivity, performance improvement, quality assurance, utilization review
and in-service training.
Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree.
Residency in Family Practice or other Primary Care Specialty. Two years of experience beyond residency is
preferred.
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Family Practice or another Primary Care Specialty.
Current licensure by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Eligible for unrestricted health center and
hospital privileges at facilities utilized by the health center. Current
DEA/Mass Controlled Substance license for prescriptive authority.
Clinical supervision of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, and
medical students, as assigned.
Reports directly to the Vice President Medical Services.
