Factory/Production Manager
Location: Northampton
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m; Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

A well-established family-run business, specialising in metal fabrication, offering a variety of services such as roll forming, folding, cutting, and CNC press brake operations. Our client is seeking a hands-on Factory/Production Manager to join their team and oversee daily operations in the manufacturing facility. This is a key role within the business, and the successful candidate will be responsible for both the management and operation of the factory floor, working closely with the owner and a small team to deliver exceptional products to customers.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-on management of day-to-day factory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production.
- Programming and operating CNC machinery, specifically Schechtl CNC Folder and Morgan Rushworth 4M PBS CNC Press Brake.
- Leading and overseeing a small team, ensuring tasks are delegated and completed on time.
- Conducting quality control of all manufactured products to meet customer specifications and internal standards.
- Managing job sheets reviewing and interpreting customer specifications, ensuring accurate execution.
- Controlling raw materials and stock to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
- Working closely with the owner to coordinate jobs and meet production targets.
- Maintaining health and safety standards and ensuring the factory's general housekeeping is performed to a high standard.
- Ensuring compliance with operational procedures and company policies.
The Candidate:- Proven experience in a production or factory management role, ideally within a metal fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming and operation, particularly with Schechtl CNC Folder and Morgan Rushworth CNC Press Brake (or similar machines).
- Ability to work hands-on and lead a small team in a busy production environment.
- A counterbalance forklift license is highly desirable; a combi forklift license is a plus but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail with a solution-focused approach.
- Experience working with niche customer specifications and a strong understanding of quality control.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working closely with the business owner to drive operational success.
- Logical, solution-oriented and a natural problem solver.
