PURPOSE OF THE ROLEReporting to the Head of Operations, the Facility Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of The Forest Sports Zone. They will lead and develop a team of staff to ensure that local people can safely access and enjoy the facilities on site. The Facility Manager will be a strong operator and communicator, and will sit on the Trust’s Management Team.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the 3G and artificial pitches, Multi-Use Games Area, pavilion, and site grounds, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Achieve performance targets related to facility usage and income, ensuring the facility meets the expectations of funders and partners.
- Manage and develop a team of dedicated staff.
- Conduct staff appraisals and identify training needs and areas for development.
- Manage and implement effective staff rota systems.
- Act as a key holder and be available for emergency call-outs when necessary.
- Manage IT booking systems, ensuring data input is accurate at all times.
- Implement robust and comprehensive internal financial controls, including cashing up, reconciliation, and banking.
- Maximise facility use and revenue in line with the purpose and values of the site.
- Implement a strict cleaning and maintenance programme to ensure all facilities are presented to the highest standards at all times.
- Monitor and evaluate user data, and prepare reports and regular facility updates for senior management as required.
- Liaise with contractors and service providers as appropriate, advising senior management on essential maintenance and operational improvements.
- Uphold high levels of customer service, including conducting periodic user satisfaction reviews.
- Engage with local and national partners and stakeholders to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ensure the facility is fully compliant with all legal requirements, including health and safety and safeguarding legislation.
- Uphold high professional standards for all NFCT staff, including leadership, appearance, attitude, enthusiasm, and work ethic; represent NFCT in a professional manner at all times with respect to appearance and conduct.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience- Proven experience and success in a management role, with solid knowledge of facility management and operations.
- Demonstrable management experience with the ability to improve operational standards.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task, and manage own workload.
- Performance-driven and results-oriented, with a commitment to achieving the highest standards.
- Experience in developing relationships with a diverse range of community partners and individuals.
- Strong experience in customer service and handling challenging situations.
- Demonstrable understanding of best practices in financial reporting, data protection, information sharing, storage, confidentiality, and privacy.
- Knowledge of operational and legal compliance related to facility management.
- Logical thinker with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to perform under personal and organisational pressures while achieving targets and maintaining high standards.
- Demonstrable understanding of operational budget management and financial planning.
- Excellent IT skills, including experience with booking systems and databases.
- An understanding of child and adult-at-risk safeguarding is desirable; however, full training is provided to all staff.
