ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of building systems and structures, including minor plumbing, electrical, wastewater, carpentry, and ensuring the facility operates safely and efficiently.

SCHEDULE: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday, must be willing to work occasional overtime including weekends.

WAGE: Hourly range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00 per hour.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performing routine maintenance at the manufacturing facilities
• Plumbing repair of sinks and drains
• Electrical, basic 120v/480v
• Electrical, running conduit
• Building repair, sheet rock
• Painting
• Switch and light replacement
• Utility savings projects
• Roof patch and repairs
• Working with the wastewater treatment system, monitor PH and balance as needed.
• Clean, maintain and troubleshoot environmental conditioning equipment.
• Hand / Pallet Jack trained
• Must be willing and able to operate powered equipment safely.
• Perform Safety Checks; ensuring the building and its systems are safe and up to code, prepare reports and participate in the corrective action required with the team.
• Schedules all maintenance inspections (e.g. Fire sprinkler system, Backflow Preventer) related to the facility and ensure the inspections are current with relevant codes and standards.
• Performs ongoing preventative maintenance (e.g. change light bulbs, maintain exterior property including snow removal and manual repairs as needed.
• Solicits bids from vendors, helps negotiate pricing and timeframes, and secures contract with vendor. Works with vendors as needed on project and required tasks.
• Performs other related Maintenance duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• A minimum of 7 years’ work experience performing maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems, and equipment commonly found in commercial facilities.
• Practices techniques, materials and equipment used in maintenance, construction and repair of facilities.
• Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations as well as HACCP and GMP’s.
• Materials methods, terminology, and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures
• Relevant laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, applicable building codes, fire regulations and safety precautions.
• Operation and proper procedures used in the maintenance and repair of hand and power tools
• Occupational hazards and standard safety procedures
• Principles and practices of record keeping inventory tracking and control
• Basic report preparations
• Basic knowledge of wastewater management
• Computer proficient: email, outlook, MS Office
• Ability to collaborate, build relationships, and effectively work with others.
• Ability to work schedule overtime as required and be available on call as needed.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• The ability to organize tasks, prioritize projects and manage time to meet deadlines.
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled facilities maintenance work.
• Operate a variety of maintenance tools and equipment related to the area of assignment.
• Pallet jack trained and able to operate a forklift.
• Perform heavy manual labor.
• Maintain accurate records and produce reports and required documentation.
• Ensure the safety procedures are properly followed.
• Read and interpret plans and diagrams.
• Estimate necessary materials and equipment to complete assignments.
• Work independently.
• Understands and able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work environment is that of a processing environment. This employee regularly works with hazardous machinery, materials, chemicals, wet floors and with wet equipment. This employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water, and steam

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Physical work includes climbing stairs, pulling hoses, etc.
• Willing to work in a various-temperature environment
• Ability to handle heavy objects safely and with proper body mechanics. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and routinely maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell
• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus
