Scott Arms Medical Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated, flexible caretaker for 20 hours per week.
The post holder will work closely with our facilities Practice Manager to understand and learn the practical skills involved in maintaining the appearance of our GP Surgery to a high standard in line with practice policies and procedures.
This role will require physical strength and the willingness to work outside when needed. In addition, you will need to have a responsible attitude, adhering to the organisation's health and safety policies, be adaptable, and have the ability to work as part of a team and using your own initiative.
Main duties of the job
As a facilities technician, you will work at Scott Arms Medical Centre. Your duties will usually include:
- Open and close of the premises daily
- Be 1st call and attend to alarm during the night
- General maintenance of premises including small repairs and maintenance as requested, basic plumbing, maintain toilets when blocked, repair and maintenance of front sliding doors, small paint jobs
- Disposing of clinical and other waste
- Put sharps bins out for collection
- Moving furniture and equipment as needed
- Calling in skilled maintenance staff for larger repairs
- Assist with the set-up of rooms
- Adhere to health and safety at all times
- Report any issues appropriately
- Diagnose faults and report
- Do routine, planned maintenance
- Install new equipment
- Maintain the grounds, including sweeping paths
- Ensure the foyer is swept regularly, rubbish picked up and kept clean
- Open and lock the building each day
- Test fire and other alarm systems weekly
- Take deliveries and ensure stock control. Be responsible for implementation and maintenance of stock control, managing stock requisites. Ensure stock levels are maintained, and rooms are equipped for each day
- Car park management, keep free of debris
- Assist on weekly testing of the fire alarms-emergency lighting
- Ensure light shades are clean and replace any bulbs
- Help with IT issues
- Assist in rotas i.e., adding to IT system, ensuring room availability
