Job Description

A Major Tier 1 Manufacturer in the Automotive sector is looking for a Facilities Engineer to join the team at their impressive site in the Telford area.

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working and adaptable Engineer with a strong technical background within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Operating in an Automotive Tier 1 environment and reporting into the Facilities Cell Leader, you will have strong electrical & mechanical ability, experience with facilities such as plumbing, electrics, and more.

This is a fantastic opportunity with a global company who supply to some of the biggest clients in the industry.

The facilities department is currently operating on a straight days shift pattern; however, in the future, it will change to a two-shift pattern (07:00 – 15:00 & 15:00 – 23:00 weekly rotating).

The key responsibilities of the Facilities Engineer role will be:
  • Perform daily plant inspections and record readings as required by company and legal standards.
  • Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on all factory equipment and services.
  • Maintain critical site services, including electrical systems, air supply, process cooling water, soft water, and potable/non-potable water.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on industrial machinery.
  • Carry out electrical installations in compliance with current regulations.
  • Monitor and control legionella risks within the factory and cooling towers per statutory guidelines.
  • Test fire protection systems as per company insurance requirements.
  • Oversee and maintain AHU (Air Handling Units) and AC (Air Conditioning) systems.
  • Install new equipment, machinery, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Perform general external maintenance work.
  • Strip down, inspect, and rebuild pumps as needed.
  • Ensure the proper function of all factory sanitation systems.
  • Respond to spills and other urgent facility-related issues.
  • Monitor and maintain abatement plants as per statutory obligations.
  • Oversee wastewater treatment processes, ensuring compliance with Severn Trent discharge limits.
  • Uphold 5S workplace organization across the entire facility.
  • Step in for the Facilities Cell Leader when required.
  • Supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with site regulations and safety standards.
  • Adhere to safe working practices, ensuring all PPE requirements are met.
The key requirements of the Facilities Engineer will be:
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and competency.
  • Experience in pipe fitting, installations, and repairs.
  • Proficiency in plumbing installations and repairs.
  • Skilled in disassembling and rebuilding pumps of various sizes and types.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • 18th Edition Electrical Certification is required.
