Job description

NOV is looking for a Fabricator Welder based in Middleton in Greater Manchester.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for producing quality fabrications and welds using fabrication and welding equipment required for the process in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
  • Read engineering drawings, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.
  • Experience with Mig and Tig welding techniques.
  • Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, operating controls, de-burring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
  • Identify problems prior to production runs, then start and observe quality of fabrications and welds to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust control media as required.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
  • Perform any other work-related tasks and duties in accordance with the business needs.
  • Comply with all NOV Company, Quality + HSE policies and procedures.
  • Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.

  • Must have served a recognized apprenticeship.

Qualifications:

  • Time Served apprenticeship within a Fabrication/welding discipline, equivalent to either City and Guilds Level 3, or NVQ Level 3.

Experience:

  • Operating a variety of fabrication and welding equipment.

Skills, Training or Special Knowledge:

  • Understanding of welding materials and processes in accordance with ASME standards.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Manual handling, slinging and lifting.
  • HSE awareness.
