Job description

Job title: Fabricator - Plater

Location: Glasgow - Govan and Scotstoun - Based on site and must be able to attend a recruitment day in Glasgow.

Salary: £37,318.00 (additional shift allowance of 33% may be applicable)

Requirements: Trade Papers to be provided when submitting application

What you'll be doing:

  1. Interpreting engineering drawings
  2. Marking - off materials
  3. Plate preparation, using different methods (Oxy - fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding)
  4. Assembling of ships structures, shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, & longitudinals
  5. Fit, fair and tack weld steelwork using fairing aids
  6. Fabrication of ship items - seats, ladders, false flooring & panels
  7. Outfitting Ships items, fitting of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats & false flooring
  8. Forming Material using machine tools - Rolling, Flanging & Cutting Machines (guillotine, cropper mechanical saw)
  9. Preparing ship for float-off & ship sea trials

Your skills and experiences:

  1. Modern Apprenticeship certificate also known as Trade Papers (you will be required to provide papers) and minimum SVQ 3 or equivalent
  2. Current knowledge and experience in Fabrication
  3. Understanding of manufacturing processes
  4. Clear understanding of SHE and Risk Assessment
  5. Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at height
  6. Safety certification i.e. SHE Induction, Risk Assessment, working at height etc.
  7. Background in a major construction / manufacturing environment
