The Role

We are looking for a skilled Fabric Technologist to become a vital part of our enthusiastic Product Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the development and sourcing of fabrics that reflect our brand's style, performance standards, and sustainability objectives.

You will collaborate closely with design, product development, and sourcing teams to drive innovation, ensure quality, and bring our creative visions to life.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Investigate and evaluate new trends, technologies, and materials that are emerging in the fashion and textile sector.
  2. Work alongside design teams to comprehend fabric specifications and create cutting-edge fabric solutions that fulfil both aesthetic and performance standards.
  3. Source and evaluate fabric samples from suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, sustainability, and ethical standards.
  4. Perform testing and analysis of fabrics to evaluate their physical properties, performance attributes, and adherence to industry standards.
  5. Work with production teams to optimize fabric production processes and ensure consistency in quality and performance.
  6. Offer technical advice and assistance to various teams on fabric-related challenges and solutions.
  7. Oversee fabric development projects from the initial idea all the way to production, which involves planning timelines, keeping track of samples, and staying in touch with everyone involved.
  8. Keep informed about fashion trends, what consumers like, and sustainability efforts to guide fabric development plans.
  9. Collaborate with suppliers and partners to explore new fabric innovations and sustainable materials.
  10. Keep detailed records of fabric specifications, testing outcomes, and development procedures to ensure accuracy and facilitate traceability.

What does good look like?

  1. Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, Materials Science, or related field.
  2. Experience in fabric development, sourcing, or technical positions within the fashion sector. Comprehensive understanding of textile fibers, yarns, construction methods, as well as dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques.
  3. Proficient in various fabric testing techniques and tools, encompassing physical, chemical, and performance testing.
  4. Understanding of sustainability concepts and efforts within the fashion and textile sector.
  5. Strong communication abilities and a talent for working well with diverse teams and external collaborators.
  6. Meticulous and attentive, possessing a strong appreciation for quality and visual appeal.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to excel in a high-energy, ever-evolving setting while adjusting to shifting priorities.
