The Role

We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Fabric Technologist to join our product development and sourcing team. This role is critical to ensuring the technical performance, compliance, and commercial viability of fabrics used across our collections. You will be responsible for fabric testing, care label approvals, volume reviews, and supporting the sourcing process - including negotiating minimum order quantities (MOQs) and pricing with mills.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Fabric Testing & Compliance
    • Oversee and interpret fabric test results in line with internal and external standards (e.g., ISO, REACH, OEKO-TEX).
    • Ensure all fabrics meet performance and safety requirements for target markets.
    • Liaise with suppliers/test laboratories to ensure accurate and timely testing.
    • Keep up to date with fabric compliance regulations globally and communicate relevant updates internally.
  2. Care Label Approval
    • Evaluate test data to determine correct care labelling requirements for each fabric.
    • Approve final care instructions in line with legal and brand guidelines.
    • Work cross-functionally with design, QA, and compliance teams to ensure care label information is accurate and consistent.
  3. Fabric Sourcing Support
    • Support fabric selection and sourcing with the design and product development teams.
    • Provide technical guidance during the development process, assessing suitability for end use, performance, and sustainability.
    • Maintain an up-to-date fabric library and database, including certifications, compositions, and lead times.
  4. Volume Review & Supplier Liaison
    • Review seasonal fabric requirements, consolidate volumes across styles, and communicate forecasts to suppliers.
    • Negotiate MOQ and pricing with mills, balancing cost, flexibility, and supplier capabilities.
    • Maintain strong relationships with fabric mills and vendors to ensure delivery timelines and quality expectations are met.
    • Proactively resolve any technical or commercial fabric issues that arise during development or production.
Key Skills and Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in a fabric technology, sourcing, or textile compliance role (ideally within fashion, apparel, or home textiles).
  • Strong understanding of fabric performance, testing methods, and global compliance standards.
  • Experience working with fabric mills, including negotiating MOQs and pricing.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when reviewing technical specs and test reports.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across design, buying, QA, and supplier teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PLM or ERP systems.
  • Textile or garment technology qualification preferred.
More about you
  • A passion for textiles, sustainability, and fabric innovation.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of cost drivers in fabric sourcing.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach.
What's on offer?
  • Bi-annual bonus scheme
  • 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  • Extra day off for your birthday
  • Flexible working hours around core hours of 10-4
  • Cycle to work scheme
