Fabric Engineer

Location: Glasgow, G5 8DP

Hours of work: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

The Fabric Engineer will deliver exceptional Fabric Services as part of the site’s Facilities team, embodying client values, leadership principles, and the collaborative unity values developed by the client.Located on a large and inviting site, the work environment offers numerous amenities, including cafés, a restaurant, a gym, and a bar, with a team dynamic that is collaborative and welcoming.This role is pivotal in fostering team behaviors that drive significant results for the business, helping our client maintain its leading position in the industry and enhancing its reputation with the client.

Job Description

The primary purpose of the role is to promote teamwork and achieve outstanding outcomes that support our client's standing in the industry.The Fabric Engineer will ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety protocols, cooperate with team members, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.The role emphasises being part of a unified team that consistently provides a high level of service to the client.The Fabric Engineer will focus on delivering a proactive and innovative building fabrics service with a strong emphasis on customer care, ensuring courteous and effective service delivery at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to engineering standards per HASAWA requirements
  • Follow onsite Quality Assurance procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Respond effectively to building fabric-related issues and help desk requests
  • Inspect and repair floor, wall, and ceiling coverings
  • Inspect and repair furniture, doors, windows, and fixtures
  • Clear drainage gully systems
  • Replace luminaires and carry out painting and redecorating tasks
  • Perform semi-skilled tasks and support the engineering team as required
  • Conduct technical surveys and report findings with material cost estimates for minor works
  • Coordinate and resolve client requests, complaints, and situational issues
  • Supervise and coordinate specialist sub-contractors for PPM schedules and review new works
  • Undertake minor installation tasks and assist in enhancing client services
  • Comply with company procedures and client requirements to meet contractual obligations

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of general building works, diagnostic and repair procedures
  • Working understanding of building services systems and maintenance schedules
  • Experience in FM, premises, or property-related industries
  • Advanced communication and influencing skills at all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with proficiency in producing detailed reports and proposals
  • Skilled in analysing management information and delivering process improvement solutions
  • Strong urgency in responding to and resolving issues
  • Proven experience managing service providers, contractors, and internal teams
  • Expertise in maintaining and enhancing client and supplier relationships
  • Effective supervisory capabilities for managing engineering teams
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, professional services
  • Ability to understand and meet customer requirements
  • Outstanding customer service and rapport-building skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
