Job Title: Mobile Building Services Fabric Engineer/Handyman

Location: Watford

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Services Fabric Engineer to join our team. The role involves the maintenance, repair, and servicing of building fabric elements such as walls, roofs, windows, doors, and flooring, ensuring the building's structural integrity and aesthetic quality. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of all building services.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Building Fabric Maintenance: Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance on building fabric elements including but not limited to masonry, roofing, windows, doors, flooring, and general structural elements.
  2. Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular inspections of the building fabric, identifying wear and tear, potential hazards, and deterioration, and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements.
  3. Repairs & Installations: Perform minor repairs and installations of building fabric components (e.g., door replacements, plastering, roofing repairs) as required to maintain functionality and aesthetics.
  4. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, including carrying out risk assessments, adhering to safety standards, and maintaining a safe working environment.
  5. Work Order Management: Respond to work orders, prioritizing and managing tasks efficiently. Keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance work undertaken.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with other building services engineers (mechanical, electrical, etc.), contractors, and the facilities management team to ensure coordinated and efficient service delivery.
  7. Asset Management: Assist in the management of building assets, ensuring they are maintained and recorded correctly. Participate in asset lifecycle management activities.
  8. Reporting: Prepare and present reports on the condition of building fabric, maintenance activities, and any ongoing issues. Provide clear communication on progress and outcomes to senior management.
Required Skills & Experience:
  1. Qualifications: A relevant qualification in building services, construction, or a related field (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent). Health and safety certifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, or CSCS card is desirable.
  2. Experience: Previous experience in building maintenance, construction, or fabric engineering. Experience in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining building fabric elements such as roofs, walls, windows, and doors. Familiarity with working in commercial, residential, or industrial building settings.
