EYFS Teaching Assistant

Location: Rugby (CV22)

Pay: 395- 430 (Weekly Take Home after Tax and NI)

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Start Date: 28/04/2025 (After Easter)

Do you have experience supporting young children with Autism and speech and language needs?

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism, non-verbal communication needs, and speech & language development in a nurturing early years setting. This role requires experience with Makaton and a strong understanding of communication strategies to help children build essential language and social skills.

About the Role

  • Supporting children in an EYFS setting with Autism and non-verbal communication needs.
  • Using Makaton and other communication strategies to develop speech and language skills.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans.
  • Creating a structured, engaging, and inclusive environment to promote development.
  • Encouraging social interaction, confidence, and independence in daily routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children with speech and language needs.
  • Use Makaton, PECS, and other visual communication aids to support language development.
  • Assist in delivering engaging and sensory-friendly activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and language therapists, and SENCOs.
  • Monitor progress and adapt support strategies to meet each child's needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with children with Autism and non-verbal communication needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Makaton and other communication development strategies.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting young learners.
  • Ability to create a calm and structured learning environment.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) is desirable.
