Job description

Job Title: EYFS Teacher (Fixed Term - 1 Year)

Location: Lambeth
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Fixed Term (1 Year)
Working Hours: Full-Time
Start Date: 01/09/2025
Closing Date for Applications: 31/05/2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Teaching:

    • Develop and deliver imaginative and stimulating lessons that align with the EYFS framework, promoting learning through play and hands-on experiences.

    • Use a variety of teaching methods to meet the individual needs of children, fostering their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

    • Create an inviting, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

    • Regularly observe and assess children's progress, using formative and summative assessment strategies to inform planning.

    • Maintain accurate records and produce individual learning plans to support each child s growth.

    • Complete Learning Journals and other required documentation, celebrating achievements and identifying next steps.

  • Pastoral Care and Well-Being:

    • Build warm and supportive relationships with children, promoting positive behaviour and social skills.

    • Ensure that the physical and emotional well-being of every child is a top priority.

    • Promote British Values and foster a respectful, caring community within the classroom.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with teaching assistants and other EYFS staff to ensure consistency and continuity of care and education.

    • Engage with parents and carers through regular communication, meetings, and progress reports.

    • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualifications and Experience:

    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Early Years Education.

    • Proven experience teaching in Nursery and/or Reception settings.

    • A thorough understanding of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.

  • Skills and Attributes:

    • Passionate about early years education, with a creative and nurturing approach to teaching.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.

    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, assess, and manage time effectively.

    • Adaptability and resilience to meet the diverse needs of young learners.

    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
