Job Description

At Capgemini Engineering, the world leader in engineering services, we bring together a global team of engineers, scientists, and architects to help the world’s most innovative companies unleash their potential. From autonomous cars to life-saving robots, our digital and software technology experts think outside the box as they provide unique R&D and engineering services across all industries. Join us for a career full of opportunities. Where you can make a difference. Where no two days are the same.

About the job you’re considering

Hybrid Intelligence, a Capgemini Engineering team, is looking for a R&D Sales Director within their Expert Sales team with a background in bio-engineering and proven track record in engaging with potential clients to understand their business, shape winning proposals and delivering solutions for high-value technical consultancy and analytics. We can offer an exciting and rewarding career where you can make a significant impact by demonstrating our expertise in intelligent bio-engineering and lowering the barriers to innovation for our clients.

Your Role

You will be responsible for building Hybrid Intelligence’s sales pipeline (bookings) in bio-engineering and related capabilities for Life Sciences and Consumer Products clients, working closely with the Capgemini Engineering Account Managers and Client Partners. Your activities will include:

  • Define and prosecute effective sales strategies and plans (new business development and existing client management) in conjunction with the Capgemini Client Partners to meet bookings targets for Hybrid Intelligence offers and capabilities within a defined account portfolio.
  • Collaborate and bring key parties together within Capgemini UK (business lines, geographies, market unit) to drive booking and revenue growth for Hybrid Intelligence’s specialist capabilities.
  • Pitching our offers, capabilities, and services centred on Intelligent Bio-Engineering to potential clients often alongside technical architects and other experts by providing technical knowledge and domain experience that demonstrates our credibility.
  • Understand industry and specific client needs and identify a winning strategy and solution/delivery approach tailored to these.
  • Building and leading the right bid team for an opportunity by bringing in the right experts from across the global Hybrid Intelligence team to create winning proposals.
  • Working with the wider team to grow Intelligent Bio-Engineering delivery capabilities by identifying strategic opportunities for growth.

Our projects tend to involve complex, consultative sales, so you will need to be comfortable talking to both clients and internal technical teams and use strong influencing skills to ensure we shape the right solutions for our clients.

You must be comfortable traveling to meet with prospects and customers across the UK. You will be selling the capabilities of our highly skilled consultants, so regular contact with them will be critical to your success – therefore you will be expected to work out of one of our offices on a regular basis.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for a driven, self-motivated, and proactive individual who enjoys understanding and helping R&D clients with the following attributes:

  • BS, MS or PhD in a numerate subject such as science, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the challenges faced with bio-engineering in R&D organisations.
  • Knowledge of the key concepts of a broad range of technologies, data science techniques and software development in the R&D bio-engineering space, including how these can be used to solve real research and industry challenges.
  • The ability to drive technology-intensive conversations with clients and colleagues at all levels and act as a bridge to explain and make technology relevant to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A track record of relationship building with senior R&D stakeholders and CxO’s.
  • Able to operate with a high degree of independence as well as being part of a team.
  • Consultative selling or delivery experience including exposure to sizeable deals and complex programmes in the related industries.
  • Experience of managing a (sales) target including opportunity qualification, bid management, and defining winning sales plans with discipline would be an advantage.
  • An existing network of contacts inside R&D organisations would be an advantage.
  • Ability to travel nationally on a regular basis and as required internationally.

Your security clearance

To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.

What does ‘Get The Future You Want’ mean for you?

We realise a Total Reward package should be more than just compensation. At Capgemini we offer a range of core and flexible benefits and have a Peer Recognition Portal called Applaud. You will be encouraged to have a positive work-life balance. Our hybrid-first way of working means we embed hybrid working in all that we do and make flexible working arrangements the day-to-day reality for our people. All UK employees are eligible to request flexible working arrangements.
