Experienced Maintenance Engineer
Location: Bells Food Group, Shotts
Shift: Backshift 2pm-10pm Monday to Thursday and 1pm-8pm Friday
Salary: Competitive, based on experience, overtime offered at double time for weekends.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Shotts facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our production equipment through both preventive and reactive maintenance. This role is crucial in maintaining our high standards of product quality and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance of production machinery to prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure continuous operation.
  2. Reactive Maintenance: Respond promptly to equipment failures, diagnose issues, and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
  3. Equipment Installation and Modification: Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and implement modifications to existing equipment as needed.
  4. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all company and statutory Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations. Participate in risk assessments and ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and other relevant standards.
  5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, work orders, and parts usage. Generate reports on equipment performance and maintenance tasks.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with production teams and other engineers to address issues, support production goals, and optimize machinery performance.
  8. Training: Provide guidance and training to production staff and junior engineers on equipment operation, routine maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:
  1. Education: Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Experience: Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a food manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance, including PLC fault-finding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  4. Problem-Solving: Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  5. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  6. Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
  7. A valid driver's license is essential due to covering a number of sites which are all within the Shotts area.
