About the team

We are Australia’s trade remedies authority - the Anti-Dumping Commission. The commission is responsible for undertaking investigations into allegations of unfair international trade practices involving goods entering Australia and administering Australia’s anti-dumping legislation. These investigations seek to deliver a level playing field for industry. Professionalism, excellence and independence underpins the commission’s world-class reputation.

  • A thorough understanding of corporate and governance processes including budgets, procurement, human resources and ministerial processes.

  • An understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire an understanding of, the anti-dumping environment and system.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet critical deadlines, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment.

What you will do

The Executive Officer to the Commissioner will provide high-level executive support on organisational matters, monitor and report on various operational issues, and prepare communications and correspondence. The officer will also :

  • Support Executive meetings, including preparing papers and overseeing secretariat functions.
  • Collate and analyse data to advise the Commissioner on strategic and operational matters.
  • Collaborate across the commission and with stakeholders, managing commission priorities.
  • Prepare, manage, and review high-level communications and correspondence.
  • Identify and address emerging issues, coordinating communication and ensuring responses meet deadlines.
  • Provide issues management and support, resolving emerging issues with minimal risk.
  • Lead and contribute to projects to achieve strategic and operational objectives.
  • Manage and supervise the executive unit.

Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.

Positions require a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Melbourne Based position

A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.

The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is VIC - Melbourne - Spring St based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered. Please reach out to the contact officer to discuss this further.
