Job description

A forward-thinking and dynamic school in Bacup is seeking committed Exam Invigilators to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to contribute to creating a safe, well-maintained, and effective learning environment for students and staff.

We are seeking individuals to assist with exam invigilation and also to support students with access arrangements which could include being a 'reader' and a 'scribe'.

Contract: Seasonal

Hours of work: Dependant on the school's exam timetable

Main Duties

1. All Supporting Invigilators are responsible for facilitating the smooth running of examinations and ensuring the integrity of the examination process. Supporting Invigilators are responsible to the Senior Invigilator.
2. Working as part of a team to prepare the examination venue to ensure that all examinations start promptly. This will include laying out examination attendance slips, answer books, question papers and any other necessary materials according to a seating plan.
3. Working as part of a team to invigilate the exam. This will include the checking and reconciliation of attendance slips, conducting random checks of student ID, accompanying students to the toilet and handing out any additional examination materials that are needed. This may also include dealing with any examination incidents or irregularities that arise, completing the relevant paperwork and answering subsequent queries.
4. Working as part of a team to collate examination answer booklets and other materials at the end of the exam in a timely, accurate and efficient way.

Person Specification

1. Previous experience of working in an educational setting, preferably as a Exam Invigilator.
2. The ability to work as part of a team.
3. The ability to work independently but also the judgment to seek advice when necessary.
4. The ability to remain calm under pressure.
5. The ability to deal with challenging situations in a sensitive yet firm manner.
6. Excellent attention to detail.
7. Familiarity with safeguarding and confidentiality protocols in an educational setting.

Experience

1. Exam Invigilation experience: 1 year (desirable)
2. Working within a school environment: 1 year (desirable)
