What You Will Do:

The Events Manager is a member of the Pao Arts Center team. Pao Arts Center strengthens communities by promoting health and wellness through arts, education, and creative programs. You will create opportunities for individuals to build strong connections and harness their power to improve their communities. You will ensure that AAPI voices and stories are heard and celebrated. You will report directly to the Performance and Theatre Program Manager.

In this role, you will:

  1. Act as the primary contact for the client renting space at Pao Arts Center.
  2. Supervise all aspects of the event set-up.
  3. Welcome, usher, and direct vendors and guests on arrival.
  4. Prioritize tasks related to the event and manage staff and logistics in a timely fashion throughout the event.
  5. Attend to any problems or complaints that may arise during events.
  6. Responsible for evaluating and reporting on the success of the function, overseeing the clean-up and restoration of Pao Arts Center at the event's conclusion.
  7. Protection of the space and the artwork in the gallery is of the utmost importance.
  8. Coordinate with Rental Clients/House Managers/other events staff to ensure that doors open on time.
  9. Set up the audio-visual (AV) system as per client specifications.
  10. Enforce BCNC’s policies to rental clients and audience members/patrons.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Look For:

  1. Experience in Event Management is preferred. Experience with audio-visual (AV) systems is a plus.
  2. Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  3. Arrive at work on time and dressed appropriately for each event.
  4. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills are a must.
  5. Positive attitude.
  6. Friendly and welcoming demeanor; enjoy working with the public.
  7. Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
  8. High level of communication, customer service, and public relations skills.
  9. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  10. Ability for efficiency, grace, and tact during high public traffic cycles.
  11. Must be able to adapt to changing situations and multitask and handle several people and tasks simultaneously with grace and ease.
  12. Retain good problem-solving skills as well as superior communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  1. Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
  2. Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
